Two more Soviet mystery kit cars0 Comment
Gorin, Mystery Cars | Sat, 23 Aug 2008 Posted by : Shannon Larratt
My friend Joe Lee wrote in with a couple more mystery Soviet kit cars. The red one is from the Ukraine and is named a “Gorin”, which he thinks was the name of the builder… It looks sort of like a chunky BMW M1 (or chunky Aquila) to me. The car is built on a sixties Mosckovich chassis and driveline, and the windshield is out of a Volga. The yellow one was built in Bulgaria in the seventies, with a Lada engine and driveline. It’s currently for sale in a village for $1,700.
Corvair Powered Kelmark0 Comment
Kelmark | Thu, 21 Aug 2008 Posted by : Shannon Larratt
My friend Eric asked me to post this Kelmark for a friend of his, who writes,
I started to rebuild the car and when my wife bought me my dream car (1955 Chevy) so I moved it to my garage out back about 2 years ago and now I need the room and don’t have time to work on it. When I got the car out of Arizona it ran but I had to hot wire it, the wiring is a little missed up. (I did get the car running and put two new carbs on, it runs good). The engine and trans is out of a 1964 Corvair and had been rebuilt and is on a VW pan. The body is in good shape, I have all the parts seats, dash, door panel and just picket up a new wiring harness for it (not installed at this time . If you have any question’s just let me know.
I don’t think it would take much to get the car on the road.
The Car is sitting in my Heated Garage at this time and I did start working on it with my son but he his playing golf for the High school and has lost interest in it. I live in Derby Kansas Just 5 miles south of Wichita, KS. I would like to get $1,500.00 for it.
You can reach Brian at 316-788-8672.
The first picture is of the car when he got it.
Factory-Built Sebring for sale0 Comment
eBay, For Sale, Sebring | Mon, 18 Aug 2008 Posted by : Shannon Larratt
My posting may be a little sporadic (or at least come in bursts) until September because I’m taking this time off to spend the last couple weeks of summer with my daughter in between summer camp and the start of school.
There’s a very nice “Factory Built” 1979 Sebring (the “old man’s Sterling”) up for sale right now in Jackson, Florida (#290254082416). It looks really clean and finished with under 9,000 miles on a recently serviced rebuilt 1.8L VW performance engine. The car is original, never painted, and running strong, with a perfectly operating roof. Assuming the car’s description is accurate, this is one of the few Sebrings that you could step into that’s as close to a production car as VW kits tend to get.

Fiero GT-40, For Sale | Mon, 18 Aug 2008 Posted by : Shannon Larratt
I’ll be posting a more interesting DIY project of his soon, but in the meantime, this kit car builder is selling a nice clean Fiero based GT-40 inspired car. It’s on an ’88 Fiero frame with a 3.8L supercharged engine. The car is located in California but he’s hoping to sell it outside of the state due to smog issues. Drop him a line at PONDGUY@aol.com.

Terry just sold off his VW-based Avenger kit for $1,500 after sitting for twenty years. He thinks the interesting tail lights are out of an old Firebird but he’s not sure.
DIY Batmobile 2/20 Comment
Batmobile, eBay, For Sale, One-offs | Mon, 18 Aug 2008 Posted by : Shannon Larratt
This nutty steel and fiberglass Batman tribute car was built by Oscar Pumpin. As you might have guessed if you’ve got a sharp eye, this is actually a Bugatti replica on a ’77 VW pan, which was then sculpted into this 22 foot long monstrosity. This is being sold by a seller in Tarpon Springs, Florida who says, “the owner of the original paid $325,000.00 for his — mine is a LOT, LOT, Lot cheaper!”
No doubt!!!! The builder/owner was actually inspired to create it after seeing the Batman Forever original in a local auto museum, and built it over two years of hard work… Now, burned out from all the work, he’s decided to let it go. No doubt it’s also a traffic stopper. It’s currently up on eBay (110280824900).

When I was a kid we had a Plymouth Fury with a 440 in it. After my parents retired it to one of the fields of our farm, I got it in my head that I wanted to convert it into a Tim Burton-era batmobile… Unfortunately I discovered that my brother and his friends had previously gotten high and decided to smash it to bits with a sledgehammer, so that project didn’t get far. Up on eBay right now are a pair of DIY batmobiles that are both pretty crazy looking…
In this post, Alan (tirezan@webtv.net) is selling this one for a friend of his (#290253605530). It’s built on a shortened S-10 chassis with a Buick V6 and a Turbo 350 transmission. The car was built by Bud Holmes in Cleveland, TN (apparently known as “Bad Bud” locally). It runs well but needs a lot of work to finish… I have no doubt that their claim that the car “blows peopls minds” is true… It’s completely kooky!
Aztec 7 near Montreal (and a dunebuggy)1 Comment
Aztec 7, Dunebuggies, FiberFab, For Sale | Fri, 15 Aug 2008 Posted by : Shannon Larratt
Pierre, who lives just south of Montreal in Quebec, Canada, has this Aztec 7 up for sale, and is willing to throw in an unassembled dunebuggy as well (with all the pieces including engine and transmission) — $5,000 takes them both. He’s also open to any interesting trades. You can contact him at pierre.krstic@sympatico.ca. This is one of the few Aztec 7s in Canada (and they can’t be imported), so if you want one, write Pierre. It’s had a few modifications done including headlight relocation and the possibility of hood scoops.

For Sale, Laser 917, Mini 18 | Fri, 15 Aug 2008 Posted by : Shannon Larratt
I just noticed a pair of Craigslist ads (797045564 and 797033066; Jhonpaul @ 360-801-3722) in Seattle advertising a pair of classic Elite Enterprises kit cars. First up they’ve got the more common Laser 917, built on a VW pan with a Buick V6 powering it. Asking price is $5,000.

More interestingly, they also have a Mini 18 (aka Mini Max), something you almost never see for sale. He’s asking $3,800 for this ultra-rare kit car. Both cars are running but could use work, with the Mini 18 needing more work.
