Dodge Avenger….another bargain2 Comment

Avenger, FiberFab | Thu, 28 Jun 2012 Posted by :

Seems I have seen this one before on Fleabay,
Painted in the Gulf racing colors which I guess is popular to some it looks like a typical mid range build.
I need to have someone tell me why this is a 14 K car and what is “Dodge” about it.

Avenger / Valkyrie Pick of the Week2 Comment

Avenger, FiberFab, Valkyrie | Thu, 28 Jun 2012 Posted by :

Here is something that looks like it started out life as an Avenger or Valkyrie,
Somewhere along the line it had odd ( ugly ) box flares added and a big part of the front end smashed,
It comes with a large amount of rust and other detritus.
If it’s a Valkyrie it’s the late model that you had to get at the engine through the rear window opening.
Asking price of 9500.00 makes this mess my pick of the week, perhaps pick of the month.

So how much would YOU pay for this jewel?

Stunning Black Manta2 Comment

Manta Mirage | Wed, 27 Jun 2012 Posted by :

Seems this car was just listed and sold not too long ago.
We can’t see much in the couple pictures, the black looks stunning and it does look very complete and unmolested,
The way the ad reads it could make me believe the car was bought to flip, the seller knows or is telling little about it.
While I am no big fan of a VW front suspension under a fire breathing mid engine car the Corvair gearbox in the “manta/kelmark” turned around 180 was the real weak link, the quill shaft is frail, no hole shots, the gearing is for a low power car so 1st gear isn’t used much and you do lots of shifting in traffic,
The way the differential is being loaded running in reverse and no oil flow on the ring and pinion substantially reduce it’s life span.
Being I do love these cars I have seen some fixes during the years, but the age of the Corvair parts making them hard to find and the band aid fixes adds up to a savvy Mirage builder should just step up to a nice Audi or Porsche transaxle and be done with it.
The seller admits it needs a full restoration so if you are in the market, considering the economy either pick this one up at a good price of just buy a turn key and go play.

A Kelmark0 Comment

Kelmark, Uncategorized | Wed, 27 Jun 2012 Posted by :

Here’s the quintessential Kelmark it’s even in many ways what I would call a quintessential Kit Car.
It appears to be made very well and made right to letter of the Kelmark manual, yawn.
The color is nice and it is ready to drive,
Sadly as wonderful as I find the Kelmarks this one just seems a bit dull to me I also would have to wish the seller a lot of luck getting that asking price.
However, like I always say if a persons dream in a Kelmark this might be the one to wheel and deal on.

Sterling on Craigslist3 Comment

Sterling | Sun, 24 Jun 2012 Posted by :

Pretty good looking I will say.The ad says it sits on a 1969 chassis with a 71 1600cc engine. The rest is your typical kit car “selling points” . They are looking to get $5000 out of it. What do you guys think?

If you are like me you collect old kit car magazines, brochures, ads, and other items. Being a rainy day in Florida I figured it would be a good day to hand pick a few items I think would be perfect for any collection.

Just found this one browsing craigslist. Sitting on a 1963 Beetle chassis with a 1300cc engine. Has working Stewart Warner gauges and it appears to be in pretty good shape, but rather plain if you ask me. They are looking to get 6k out of it

Nice Bradley GTII on eBay2 Comment

Bradley GT II, eBay | Fri, 22 Jun 2012 Posted by :

This is a good looking Bradley  GTII. Said to be 90% restored. Has new interior, original glass , and a few other things. It is a good looking car that appears to have been given a pretty decent restoration. They are one of my all time favorite kit cars ever. If it was not for the fact that there is no replacement windshield available I might have owned one a long time ago.

Anyone want to guess what the reserve is on it? I am going to say $5000
