Hello,
In the next month or so (hopefully sooner) I shall have my own laser 917 in my driveway.  I'm very excited to get started on it and make it road worthy.  It's already in great condition, just needs to be finished.
It's the13bat's laser in fact.  Here's his registry of it:
http://www.laser917.net/infusions/registry_gallery/registry_gallery_3.php?B=78

It's a little different now which puts it into project form.

Anyways, I'm quite excited to get it going but gotta wait on shipping.  I look forward to joining you all soon in the world of lasers!

Welcome, I believe you are getting a good one. I have never met P personally, but from our online conversations I believe he is a stickler for details and insists on doing things right,.

It was hard, I took a long time to find what I called the perfect Laser,
I had big dreams and build ideas come and go, but in the end I can't afford a fleet of cars and we need/want a new daily driver, ( late 20's early 30's sedan rod ) so I can haul stuff in the back when need be.

My vette is staying put and the valk isnt worth much so the Laser had to go.

I do believe Chris will have the passion for this car I do and he will take it to the next level, it's due for pick up in a week or two I am sure the wait is killing him, would be me,

Thanks for giving him a warm welcome I am sure he can find any info he needs right here.

Thanks for the welcomes!  The car got here last Thursday along with a bunch of goodies.   Im just dying to get started on it.   I wanted to sit in the car for a second to get a bit of an idea how it'll be.  It's much different for sure!   First thing I noticed was that the pedals are very close together.  The second, there was a narly spider web in a corner, a few other webs, and 1 spider I could see.

So I can't get to work on it till finals are over (may 9) but I got some "preperation" work done today.  Me, my dad, and girlfriend cleaned out a very messy garage today to make room for the car.   We're getting into the month of possible hail and I don't want her getting damaged from it.   After 8 hours we got it so the car will fit.  Then sprayed a bunch of spider killing stuff in and it'll have to sit for a couple weeks.

Once we get goin on it though, i'll keep you guys updated :D

Good to hear that it got to you safe Rocky!

In regards to the pedals, I noticed the same thing even though my clutch pedal was modified and bent to the left. They take a bit of getting used to but are manageable but not real fun.

However, there is one modification I do hope to make to mine. I see the "Bigfoot" pedal mod for sale on thesamba. (http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1087010) I'm going to eventually do this so that my FAT FOOT can better fit!

The hard part is there is NO ROOM to get to the pedal assembly while the body is on the chassis. I may have to unbolt and raise at least the front of the body just to be able to fit there and do the install.

Does anyone know if the wiring diagram was transferred to the new site?  I can't seem to find it.

I have a couple of versions saved on my work computer, check with Bats because he may have customized it a bit. If he did it all original PM me your email and I will send you what I have.

Chris, I'm pretty sure that big Elite build manual has the "VW" version of the so called Elite wiring diagrams, it's okay for a guide line but this car has a GM not VW column and the Elite wiring is kind of bare bones, based around 70's thinking of building a kit car fast and cheap,
Way better wiring can and should be done...like relays on the headlights etc etc...okay don't get me started...lol

I'm definitely not cheaping out on the wiring.  I would prefer to not have the car burn down or have weird issues down the road.  So I've been going back and forth about making it myself or buying one.  At the moment I'm looking at the premade kits.

This:
http://www.americanautowire.com/highway15.html
Because of the GM column.   I wasn't sure if the C4 would work or not, but maybe the GM pinouts are all the same?  That part I'm not sure about.  I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram or color chart of the c4 column yet.  If I don't get something for the pinouts though I can test the wires with a multimeter

or this:
http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/vw.beetle.wiring.html
The modular kit.  Plenty of circuits for the future.

Both cost a hefty $350.  But if it gets the job done without much trouble then I'd be happy.

I haven't been able to look at the manual in a few weeks, darn school.  Finals are almost done though, this week in fact.
Once I'm back home I'm going to get going on the car immediately.  I am verryy excited!
